Scott Family

Our Background

Rob Scott grew up on a beef/sheep grazing property in the Hunter Valley and it was here that his passion for farming started. After High School, Rob attended the University of New England and graduated with an Agricultural Economics degree. He then worked in the finance and managed fund industry both in the United Kingdom and Sydney for 3 years.

Rob then took on an Agribusiness lending role with the NAB for 2 years but the pull of farming life took him to working a season in the gulf country of Queensland. It was working on this cattle property that he first got the taste of a large scale cell grazing operation, and the benefits that came with it.

Upon moving back to his hometown, Rob undertook a Holistic Resource Management (HRM) course and worked on a number of local properties, while at the same time developing his family's property into a successful cell grazing enterprise. It was then in 2004 that Rob originally established his business Farm Easy, providing beef farming advice and management services for mainly absentee farm owners in the Upper Hunter.

After a number of years successfully managing these properties and implementing HRM principles, Rob took on a full time role with one of his clients, who had put together several properties in an aggregation and formed a large successful beef and sheep farming operation. Whilst managing this property, Rob undertook a number of other grazing courses including Grazing for Profit (RCS), Technograze (Kiwitech - NZ) aswell as DPI courses such as Pro-graze and Land-Scan. Combining all of these, Rob managed the implementation of a large scale development program, where everything was taken into account including sustainable land clearing, pasture improvement, water systems, fence design, grazing management, land type and enterprise selection. By taking all these factors into account, carrying capacity was greatly improved by up to 5 times the original stocking rate.

The business of Farm Easy was put on hold over the past 8 years while Rob carried out this management role, but has now started up again with a new and improved service. Rob, his wife Lucy and their three children have purchased their own property to start developing, in conjunction with running the new look Farm Easy business.
